We are strengthening our cooperation to promote the development of the poultry trade with the Philippines
The meat industry representatives from the Philippines visited Poland as part of the “European Poultry – from our farms to your tables” program, organised by the National Poultry Council – Chamber of Commerce. The purpose of the study visit was to showcase the potential of the European poultry sector, including Polish producers, and its high production standards, as well as to discuss opportunities for further developing trade cooperation between the European Union and the Philippines.
The visit began with a meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development attended by Minister Stefan Krajewski, Chief Veterinary Officer Paweł Meyer, representatives of the National Agricultural Support Centre, and representatives of the Polish poultry industry. The talks focused on trade development, food safety, veterinary cooperation, and measures to support EU poultry exports to the Philippine market.
The Philippines stands out as one of the most promising markets in Asia for poultry products from the European Union, particularly Poland. A significant topic of discussion has been the concept of regionalization, which would facilitate the uninterrupted export of poultry from areas that are free of epizootic threats. Dariusz Goszczyński, President of the National Poultry Council – Chamber of Commerce, highlighted that establishing regionalization within the smallest area acceptable to the Philippine authorities will be a crucial step in enhancing the presence of EU poultry, including Polish products, in this growing market.
Visits to manufacturing facilities were also a key part of the program. The delegation had the opportunity to learn about modern manufacturing processes, quality control and food safety systems, and technological solutions used by Polish manufacturers. Discussions with company representatives provided an opportunity to discuss the specifics of the Philippine market and opportunities for developing business cooperation.
The delegation members emphasised that the on-site visit to the facilities allowed them to gain a better understanding of the scale and modernity of the EU’s poultry sector, as well as the high-quality standards that form the foundation of its exports.
The itinerary also included an activity promoting the EU’s cultural heritage: the guests visited the historic Old Town in Toruń, learning about the history and culture of one of Poland’s most recognisable cities.
